In May of this year, new car sales hit their all-time low, with Russians buying just 24,268 cars in the last month of spring. But now, as the AvtoVzglyad portal found out, the situation is gradually leveling off.

So in June, car deliveries to customers grew a bit, and July’s result turned out to be a whole third better than May. Last month, 32,412 brand new cars left the showrooms of official dealers. However, with the results of 2021, the comparison turns out to be depressing: then 96,819 cars turned out to be more owned by their owners.

Don’t be surprised that the current assessment is led by the domestic LADA, resulting in 10,323 shipments. And this is easy to explain. “Anti-crisis” versions of “Grants” and “Niva” like to have a democratic price, and in addition, they are backed by a soft loan program, which allows the buyer to get as much as 20 percent discount.

Kia (4004) and Hyundai (3397) stick to the “Russian brand No. 1”. But apparently the Koreans will soon have to let the Chinese brands Chery, Geely and Haval do their thing. By the way, Chery stopped sending information to the Association of European Businesses, so we only know the results of Geely and Haweil – 1973 and 1902 cars, respectively.

In the full list of automakers present in the Russian market, only two brands showed positive momentum – Changan and DFM, whose shipments increased by 24% and 298% due to the “low base effect”. Admittedly, in pieces the results look much less convincing: 523 and 203 cars.

By the way, in Russian car dealerships, where now, in addition to the “Chinese”, you can buy only a few varieties of “Grants”, “Niva” and “Patriot”, there was a revival: a batch of “West ” additionally came to LADA dealers – restyled copies. However, instead of the VAZ novelty, you can get Renault out of Belarus without a run. The AvtoVzglyad portal studied the pros and cons of both options.
