Why millions of Russian drivers should change their “rights” ahead of schedule

The AvtoVzglyad portal mentioned the reason why a large number of drivers are advised to change their driver’s license long before it expires.

At the moment, in the mass consciousness of Russian motorists, the existence of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 626 of April 9, 2022 has somehow faded into the background. And in vain…

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed it along with other documents intended to make life easier for the country’s motorists during the crisis and sanctions. The decree extends the validity of those Russian driver’s licenses, which in theory should be changed between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. Mishustin “automatically” extended such a V / U for three years. The authorities calculated that about 5 million “entitlements” were covered by the government decision. This corroborates the data that approximately 2.5 million V/U are subject to replacement each year due to expiration of “shelf life”.

In 2025 comes the deadline for replacing the first of the “extended” driver’s licenses. As a result, by 2025, at least twice as many people will reach traffic police forces than usual: 2.5 million citizens with extended V/U and another 2.5 million drivers with “rights”, whose 10-year validity expires in the same 25th year. .

This means that getting an appointment with an inspector to replace your “duties” will be an extremely difficult task due to the hasty demand for such a public service. Therefore, for those motorists whose “crust” expires between 2025 and 2027, we recommend changing their “rights” in advance, before the 2025 rush.
