The authorities of Kazakhstan are planning to introduce tiered tariffs for diesel fuel. For example, truck drivers with license plates from other countries will have to buy diesel fuel at a price twice that of local carriers. The AvtoVzglyad portal reports the details of this reform.
If the idea is implemented, a liter of diesel fuel will cost 230-260 tenge for residents of Kazakhstan and 450 tenge for foreigners (that is, about 30 and 57 Russian rubles, respectively). As the authors of the initiative assure, such an approach is necessary not to complicate foreign truck drivers, but to save the country from a fuel crisis.
According to estimates, about four thousand trucks enter the country every day, 70% of which are foreign vehicles. At the same time, carriers are trying to fill in as much cheap Kazakh diesel fuel as possible, increasing the average monthly consumption by 120,000 tons. And with the start of the harvesting campaign, there is an acute shortage of diesel fuel in the domestic market.
By the way, the policy of “double prices” also works in Belarus. There, foreign carriers are now obliged to buy diesel fuel of the DT ECO class, which is only sold by 12 border service stations. For a liter of such diesel fuel they ask for 3 rubles 58 kopecks (this is 83 Russian rubles), although ordinary fuel is much cheaper – 2 rubles 38 kopecks.
