Sochi traffic cops do not get tired of the “pleasant” motorists arriving on vacation in the seaside resort. This time, the local traffic police reported on their fight against parking violators, but at the same time, as the AvtoVzglyad portal found out, they got confused in the numbers.

As the AvtoVzglyad portal has repeatedly said, tow trucks from Sochi, in collaboration with the city’s traffic police officers, have launched a kind of “business” for vacationers who come to the sea in the summer. Local traffic organizers are creating a kind of “traps” for parking at tourist attractions. Their meaning boils down to organizing places where you can park outwardly, but in fact there is a ban on stopping cars.

Visiting car owners come across such “mines”. The cars they leave behind are quickly towed to the impounded property by local tow trucks and traffic police inspectors draw up protocols. This makes everyone happy: the police implement the established plans to fight traffic offenders, and the evacuation company counts the proceeds of the ‘services’ for forced evacuation. And so, Sochi’s traffic cops decided with pleasure to report on their successes in “buying” visiting motorists.

Because of this, Sochi’s traffic police even edited a video and said they issued 24,000 orders in the first half of 2022 for violating the rules on parking and stopping by drivers. In 22,000 cases, the cars of perpetrators were evacuated. That is, only about 2,000 car owners were punished without being sent to a car depot. And apparently the vast majority of vehicles going to the car repossession were from visitors.

In addition, the traffic police reported that using its mobile complexes for detecting violations of the stopping and parking rules, it draws up about 700 protocols for car owners every month. Based on this data, it can be calculated that over 6 months of this year, about 4,200 motorists have been fined using Sochi “parkons”.

Surprisingly, this figure contradicts Sochi’s own traffic police statement that 2,000 people were punished for violating the rules of stopping without evacuation. Exactly the number of car owners who are fined but not evacuated because incorrect parking is considered correct – 2000 or 4200 – is not at all clear. After all, the video published by the Sochi traffic police does not contain an answer to this question.
