Tutaev, as the indifference of guides and the misfortune of car tourists

And never, you hear, never make excursions around Tutaev (no – Romanov-Borisoglebsk), if you have not known the guide personally for a long time. Both my own experience and conversations with another “tourist element” (if we don’t take pilgrim groups into account) showed that in the vast majority this is not a very favored destination for Yaroslavl guides (the locals could not be calculated). Meanwhile, there is something to see in the city, and if you have suitable wheels, swim at secluded beaches with beautiful views.
From Yaroslavl to Tutaev, separated by the Volga, there are two ways: you can go to the right (Borisoglebskaya) or to the left (Romanovskaya). Both are about 40 km along decent (better than in the provincial town itself) roads.
The first may be a bit busier, but there’s no fundamental difference: you won’t find settlements and recording cameras there or there. The places are the most picturesque, so a few times we could not resist the temptation and drove the highway “in the fields” to admire.
As for the route, I recommend that you park on the left bank, so that later you can take a ferry or use the services of skippers (the fee is the same – 33 rubles) on the right. There has been no car crossing for several years – the pier, as the locals say, has been washed away, no money is being set aside for a new one.
The Romanovskaya side favorably differs from the Borisoglebskaya side both in the number of churches and in miraculously preserved examples of noble and merchant estates from the 18th-19th and early 20th centuries. The problem, I repeat, is that the guides pay particular attention to Orthodox shrines.
And then to say: how not to send the afflicted to crawl three times under the icon of the Redeemer of the Cloak of the 15th century, which is located in the Resurrection Cathedral, which worked regularly even under the Soviets?
But it is a pity that the guides at the same time bypass the secular life of bygone eras. Probably, because this life is very unevenly distributed across Tutaev, it takes a long and difficult time to walk and wander, and the lack of a direct car connection between the regions completely reduces the full-fledged excursion route to nothing.
I therefore advise you to take matters into your own hands: buy a guidebook and follow the instructions strictly. It is better to take a taxi, although it is not without problems here either. On the left it seems as if there is none at all (therefore it is better to leave the car here), and on the right you can wait for forty minutes for a taxi from Yandex. Save local aggregators, but with them – what luck.
But in general the overall picture of the settlement, however you turn, still doesn’t add up. The Bolsheviks tried to radically distort the appearance of the city and eventually turn it into a clean but provincial village.
But here, with incomprehensible persistence, polls are regularly held (not to be confused with referendums) about the desirability of returning the historic name to the settlement. It is remarkable that the respondents always give opposite answers: they probably hesitate along with the party line.
In the meantime, in the city, there is not even anywhere to eat tasty, good, with arrangement (I’m not even talking about a comfortable overnight stay). Well, maybe in the “stylish” by local standards cafe “Sorrento”, although here they hand out non-alcoholic “Mojito” water with mint, for example.
But on the right bank there is a city beach with all amenities and a good sunset. But there are many people. But on the left, swimming, though wild, is almost lonely. Especially if you are by car. It was here, by the way, that we continued our acquaintance with the premium “Chinese” Exeed VX. Full-size, four-wheel drive, and even with a clearance of 200mm, it drove very confidently from the highway to a questionable country road. Admittedly, the way back was more difficult for him…
If the car feels more than confident on highways, in regional directions and on city streets, then the messy off-road, not to mention such a difficult exercise as a “sandbox”, even in its classic form, becomes given to the car with difficulty. Even if it is given.
In short, after going through the difficult topography of the primer quite easily, the “Ixiid” on the riverbank almost gave in, burrowing itself into the wet sand as it tried to leave after a short photo shoot. Whether city tires are to blame, ESP too sensible or other issues with technology and “brain” – I find it hard to answer, but the fact remains. But apparently it wasn’t in vain that representatives of the Exeed press park threw a sapper shovel in the trunk. After the front wheels were cleared and a cobblestone was laid under them, the Volga bank was taken.
However, representatives of the brand have never claimed that the VX is king of the terrain. And they even emphasized that four-wheel drive was mainly given to the car for more stability on wet, snowy or icy asphalt. So, as they say, everything is fair. We move on – to Kostroma.

It is believed that all sins have been forgiven for those who have crawled under the icon of the Redeemer of the Cloak…
