Leading Iranian car manufacturer Iran Khodro has decided to return to the Russian market. Company representatives said they had good negotiations with Moscow. Therefore, it can be assumed that the export of cars will start this year. Moreover, Iran has something to offer the Russians.

According to top manager Mehdi Khatibi, the company plans to export its models to Azerbaijan, Oman and Iraq. But in terms of turnover, Russia should become the largest market.

“This year we will produce more than 500,000 vehicles and our goal is to export 100,000 vehicles per year within three years,” he said.

Recall that Iran Khodro cars are already known to Russian drivers. The Samand sedan, built on the basis of the French Peugeot 405, was sold in our country in 2006-2009. But then it was possible to realize only a few thousand of these machines. The reason for such modest results was that the 405th “Frenchman” was already an obsolete model by then. And the sedan did not shine in quality, and the localization was carried out disgustingly.

Now in Russia can appear the Tara sedan, a converted Peugeot 301. In addition, the company assembles Chinese Haima and Dongfeng models, as well as French Peugeot, in Iran. That is, we can assume that, in agreement with the Chinese, Haima S5 and S7 crossovers, which, by the way, were also once sold in Russia, can be brought to us. Although they do not shine with advanced technical solutions, but with an adequate “price list”, they will be able to replace the departed Renault Arkana.
