What is a “white traffic light” in Russia, perhaps only the drivers of the capital know firsthand. But, as the experience of the uncontrollable spread of paid parking from Moscow throughout Russia shows, the capital’s “moderages” in traffic management are quickly beginning to take root in the regions. Something similar is probably going to happen with the “white traffic lights”. And therefore, according to the experts of the AvtoVzglyad portal, motorists in all major cities of Russia should be ready for their appearance.

“White traffic light” drivers call a traffic light with an extra section on the side. A white figure of a man with an L-shaped arrow can light up on it. According to the thought of this traffic light “performance”, such a signal should allow the driver to turn, but with the condition that he gives way to a pedestrian if he wants to cross the street.

In Moscow, additional traffic light sections of this type have been in use for several years now. At some point they were introduced at some intersections. This was explained by the desire of the transport authorities to unload the roads so that cars can turn at those places where they previously had to stand at a red signal, allowing pedestrians to pass.

There is no objective data on the benefits of “white traffic lights” in the public domain. Only bravado reports the capital’s transport officials in the spirit of “the more beautiful on the roads.” With the driver, the “white traffic light” can sometimes play a cruel joke. And that’s why.

It turns out that since there is such a section at the traffic light and it works, the person who is behind the wheel is obliged to respond to his signals. Meanwhile, Russian traffic regulations do not state arrows and statuettes of a white person at traffic lights. According to the letter of the rules, white-moon light signals are provided solely for controlling the movement of trams and signaling at railway crossings.

For example, a “white traffic light” has approximately the same legal value for the driver as a luminous advertisement along the road. That is, in the event that the “white traffic light” signal is not also duplicated by a burning green arrow that allows a turn, you can basically ignore it! You go under such a “white arrow” – you violate the traffic rules.

Strictly speaking, “white traffic lights” only attract the driver’s attention, just when he has to look again at the road and the adjacent sidewalk and check the presence of pedestrians there.

The fact is that paragraph 13.1 of the SDA requires the driver in absolutely every turn (“under the arrow”, without the “arrow” or no traffic light at all – it does not matter!) Always and unconditionally ” give way to pedestrians and cyclists who cross the lane, into which he turns. And the “white traffic light” with its arrow only confuses the driver and distracts his attention. What could be the decisive factor causing accidents to occur.

In this case we are talking about a possible accident involving a pedestrian. Even with minor injuries to a person who was hit while crossing the road in a similar situation, the driver who allowed the collision should expect problems. For this he risks 1.5 years of deprivation of “rights”. Well, if the injuries are serious, we are automatically talking about the criminal prosecution of the motorist, which provides for sentences of up to imprisonment.
