Startup Phractyl Launches Bird-Like Vehicle eVTOL

The company is introducing a completely different design for its Macrobat aircraft.

This vehicle without lifting surface belongs to the class VTOL, that is, it is a vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. It only has a race car style seat with ten microturbojets around you. It’s even the same model that Zapata equipped with an old invention, Flyboard Air. According to official information, two of these engines could fail before flight capabilities are affected.

We don’t have hands-on testing yet, but JetRacer promises speed up to 250 kilometers per hour at an altitude of up to 3000 meters – all this is marked as “expected performance” on the official “flying car” page. Its maximum load capacity is 200 kg.

The JetRacer will be available “for both civilian and military purposes” and can be controlled remotely. As the official website describes, “its main characteristics are maximum speed and high maneuverability due to a relatively short range.”

On the Zapata website, you can apply to be one of the 100 people who will participate in the JetRacer tryouts. Of this total, 25 participants will be selected to participate in the JetRacer flight test campaign in the US. Issues such as VTOL pricing have yet to be disclosed.
