It is not without reason that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The AvtoVzglyad portal was again convinced of this by revising the strategy developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for the development of the Russian automotive industry until 2035.
Why are all kinds of “strategies”, “development plans” and other “roadmaps” good for a civil servant? I spent a lot of time inventing such a document, which in the end didn’t work – I sat down and wrote another. No sense, but always in business, wiping the KPI pants in the workplace was exceeded!
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has published a product of his life activity of exactly this kind for public discussion. Under the title “Strategy for the development of the automotive industry of the Russian Federation until 2035”. It says everything is bad in our auto industry and will most likely get worse.
And in order to correct the situation, it is necessary, for example, to drastically reduce the number of platforms on which cars are produced in our country. This, they say, always presents an excellent opportunity to save money.
But let’s start with the fact that the savings of the universal platform only become noticeable at the production scale of at least one million cars of the brand. In our country, in a few years, in general, the entire Russian new passenger car market will be close to 1.5 million units. All the way! That is, for the “single platform effect” to work, only one passenger brand needs to remain in Russia!
The Ministry of Industry and Trade even alludes to this. Officials emphasize that we are now producing cars (of all classes) on the 21st platform. And this number needs to come down. That is, in Russia there will be one passenger car manufacturer, one truck manufacturer and one bus brand. “Beautiful” prospect, you will not say anything!
In other words, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the state has no choice in this area but to bring industry back to Soviet times. Only in an even worse shape. More details about this initiative can be found in the next issue of the podcast of the AvtoVzglyad portal (you can listen to here).
