Avtodor State Company continues to improve the infrastructure of toll roads and launches a promising project of multifunctional service zones. The first sites built according to the new principle “rest first, then refuel” will be opened together with the M-12 Moscow-Kazan highway. The essence of this concept is, among other things, the separation of traffic flows. And about why a special traffic plan was needed and how it will be implemented, the AvtoVzglyad portal tells.
Toll roads receive more and more visitors every year. Highways are gaining popularity, both among private drivers (summer residents, car travelers, suburban residents) and among professional truck drivers. Therefore, the state-owned company Avtodor is deeply concerned about the issue of infrastructure. And not just “gas stations-cafés”, but entire multifunctional service areas.
Simply put, the MFZ is in fact a recreation area of an entirely new layout. A huge area that will house not only gas stations but also some service buildings with restaurants and shops, specially designated areas for training, dog walking and outdoor recreation, tourist centers, charging stations for electric vehicles and many other services that enhance the comfort of the driver and passengers.
As mentioned earlier, MFZs comply with the new concept of “rest first, then refuel”. It implies carefully thought out routes around the territory of the recreation area for various types of transport. Separation of flows is carried out immediately at the entrance to the territory. Cars, trucks, campers and buses have their own parking spaces, arranged in such a way that vehicles do not hinder each other or passengers.
Regardless of the type of transport, the driver and passengers enter the recreation area first – with restaurants and all the services we have mentioned above. And only after the travelers replenish their strength, they can drive to the distant part of the area, where the gas station and the exit to the toll road are located. Such an arrangement not only guarantees a high level of comfort, but also safety for all road users.
