This past weekend will go down in traffic police history with a police raid on luxury car drivers who decided to stage a pretentious, albeit banned by the authorities, car rally through the streets of the capital. How this super promotion ended, the AvtoVzglyad portal says.

On August 28, dozens of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other McLarens ended up in the repossessions of cars in Moscow and their owners in paddy wagons prepared in advance by law enforcement officers. Thus came to an end the rally of supercars in Moscow, without even having time to really start. It is known that crypto investor Alexei Khitrov became the initiator. Through social networks, about 20 owners of expensive sports cars agreed to meet in the city of Moscow. Further, they planned to drive beautifully along the routes of the Mother See and the Moscow region. In addition to them, according to some reports, a total of about 200 Moscow owners of supercars of different brands have expressed their desire to participate in the performance.

However, the authorities did not sit still. Last Sunday morning, as wealthy motorists began to gather at the prearranged place, dozens of police officers began to stop them harshly, like habitual violators of the law at mass public events – wringing their hands and sending them to rice wagons. Millionaires, who had become such a bond, fled in panic in all directions and hid from the police, including in the surrounding catering establishments. Meanwhile, dozens of tow trucks transported supercars to impounded lots in the city.

— Employees of the Metropolitan Police prevented the holding of this event, ensured public order and security of the citizens of the central part of the capital. The offenders will be detained and handed over to the territorial police departments to bring them to justice established by law, – Ekaterina Guz, deputy head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow said in this case.

This story primarily shows the absence of brains in the skulls of the participants of the “millionaire rally”. God knows what is going on in the Russian economy, some companies are about to close, many people are at risk of unemployment and many have lost their income. For most Russians, life has become more difficult and anxious. And against this backdrop, a handful of super-rich citizens were impatient to demonstrate to the “crowd of thugs” that everything is still the same with them. And not just good, but great overall. And for supercars, unlike other “cattle”, there is enough money. Therefore, the harsh response from law enforcement will most likely gain full approval from the majority of Muscovites.

Curiously, numerous videos of arrests of participants in an unauthorized run, which appeared on Telegram channels on Sunday, were largely removed from the information feeds by Monday morning. In the same way, news reports (with confirmatory photo illustrations) were also uprooted, where the son of the head of the Metropolitan Deptrans Maxim Liksutov was named among those detained at the staging area of the failed event.

The now non-existent “posts” stated that the offspring of the official would have been released by the police without protocols and consequences. Confirmation of this version is of course no longer available. Few people will be surprised when it turns out that the city government has “pressed all the buttons” to completely silence publicity about Sunday’s police operation.

Be that as it may, less fortunate pretentious racers are severely penalized for participating in and organizing an unauthorized public event. Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses threatens them with a fine of up to 50,000 rubles, or up to 100 hours of compulsory work, or an arrest of 15 days. This is if the citizen has not been caught on a similar offense before. The repeat offender is expected to be fined up to 300,000 rubles, and the detention period is increased to 30 days.

In addition, the cars of some of them will be examined for illegal tuning. If traces of such a conversion are found, supercars will no longer be allowed to drive on public roads.
