And on the “Grants” with GLONASS, but without a pillow, there is a simplified version of this system. It does not have the function to automatically call rescuers.

In the “naked” cars, another front panel is also installed (in the normal “Grant” there is also a passenger protection system), as well as a steering wheel without attachments for the cushion. There is also no control electronics that send signals to the engine control unit in the event of an accident. In addition, there are no ABS and airbag warning lights on the instrument panel.

In general, you have to buy a lot of things to install the missing options, but this is not easy to do. You can’t just buy the same pillow in a car store. The same can be said about electronics. But even if it were possible to do this through workarounds, the question of pulling cables and fasteners arises. Recall that in the classic “Grant” there are no necessary connectors for connecting power, as well as fasteners for installing the pillow.

If the garage service can still install all this and at the same time “reflash” the engine control module, no one can guarantee that the airbag is working correctly at the time of the accident. So, installing such additional options is more expensive for yourself. You can pay for this with your life. After all, a homemade airbag can have a false positive. And at the most inopportune moment.
