– If we talk about the production of super-advanced microcircuits at the level of three to four nanometers, then this is the space that one and a half countries in the world can make so far. But such microcircuits are necessary for the iPhone, but they are not necessary for cars – 60 nanometers is enough there. I have personally met with Russian investors who are ready to start production in the Far East to produce 60 nanometer microcircuits,” Chekunkov said.
The minister has not indicated which companies are interested in setting up such a factory. At the same time, he stressed that the Russian microchip market is estimated at hundreds of billions of rubles per year. The TOP and INTC regimes operating on Russky Island in Vladivostok allow us to expect that the future microchip factory will receive some preferences from the state, quotes RIA Novosti in his opinion.
