From September 1, people who earn a living in their own garage will have a hard time due to the constant threat of being on the street. The AvtoVzglyad portal reminds how the authorities will fight against the craftsman “Uncle Vasya”.

Amendments to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation have entered into force, as a result of which all legal standards applicable to any other real estate also apply to garages. Thus, since September 1, the “garage reform” in Russia can be considered complete.

The fact is, until recently, garages were in a kind of “grey zone” of law enforcement practice. They existed, but were not formally considered real estate. From now on, a ban on abuse applies to garages. In practice, for example, the organization of a tire fitting or car service center is considered here. As well as the device of a building materials warehouse or a mining company. Even a garage strewn with nothing but garbage has been banned since September 1. All of the above is considered inappropriate use.

And now representatives of local authorities or organizations such as real estate inspectors have the right to demand that the owner stop illegal activities. If the owner ignores the warrant, the garage will be taken from him in court and sold at auction.

And now all citizens who somehow make money under the roof of their garage can at any time fall victim to this kind of blackmail. Moreover, not only from the side of officials, but also from neighbors in the garage cooperative. After all, one complaint from an “active citizen” is enough for a garage car repairman to get into big trouble with the law.
