Is it possible to fill Russian motor oil in Chinese crossovers?
The number of Chinese cars of different brands in the Russian market is increasing every day. This means that an increasing number of car owners in the country are considering saving on the maintenance of their “Chinese”. Includes oil change. But which kind of lubricant is better to choose, the AvtoVzglyad portal will tell.

The idea of pouring a Russian product into a foreign car engine instead of a foreign brand lubricant makes many Russian motorists have well-founded fears about the engine’s performance after such an operation. From this point of view, both a full-blooded BMW “German” and a humble Chinese JAC are absolutely right: the owners of both cars are equally afraid of what could happen because of the Russian “slurry”.

Indeed, in the technical centers of official dealers of Chinese brands, our oils are not used during maintenance. For example, Chery only pours Chery Oil brand lubricant into the engines of its crossovers. Haval uses Total Quartz as its “native”, and Geely uses Shell Helix. Not every owner of a crossover from either of these brands will raise their hand to use some Lukoil or Tatneft instead. And absolutely in vain! In addition, this applies not only to relatively unpretentious naturally aspirated Chinese engines, but also to turbocharged engines, which can be found quite often under the hood of cars from the Middle Kingdom.

Note that for most Chinese engines, manufacturers recommend the use of synthetic oils. As a rule, we are talking about products with a viscosity of 5w30, 5w40, 0w30 / 0w40 and tolerances for ACEA levels B4 / A3 (C1 / C2) and SN / CF – API. In Russia, the synthetic base for oils of the listed types is produced by enterprises of all major domestic oil companies. And additives for obtaining ready-made high-quality engine lubricants, like all “oil makers” of the world, buy them from five or six manufacturers.

Most of the latter are American, but that’s a topic for another article. Be that as it may, in fact, Russian motor oils are almost identical in their basic properties to the “original” and recommended by car manufacturers.

Yes, its use is psychologically scary. But the high cost of “native” oils can force owners of Chinese crossovers (this is the main type of car from the Middle Kingdom in Russia) to massively switch to “import substitution” in this area. Thus, they arbitrarily ensure the safety and quality of the Russian product. The main thing when choosing a home engine oil for a “Chinese” is to find a lubricant with dried properties that fully meets the requirements prescribed in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
