However, you should not start saving for an Iranian miracle, because there are many questions about this car. Let’s start with the fact that the basis of the “Tara” is the French “trolley”, on which the no longer new Peugeot 301 and Citroën C-Elysée were based. Tara, on the other hand, is more like the 301st: its shapes are unmistakably guessed in this sedan. Engineers have only seriously changed the front and rear. By the way, here comes the first question.

The car, which was on display at MIMS-2022 in Moscow, had aerodynamic elements on the underside of the front bumper. Outwardly they look beautiful, but the plastic is thin and even with a light touch on the curb, all this beauty flies away. There are also complaints about chrome parts, as well as decorative plastic trim on the body: no matter how chrome begins to peel off under the influence of reagents. Well, the plastic is already bubbling against the exhibition specimen. What can we say about those cars that will come to the dealers. The drivers themselves will have to “plant” the decor elements on the glue.

There is also a lot of cheap plastic in the cabin and the box armrest wobbles between the front seats. After our shaky roads we will have to screw it to the floor with self-tapping screws. Well, the imitation leather is also too oak, and the profile of the backrest of the chair is not optimal. Overall, the car is mounted worse than the LADA Granta, not to mention Vesta, which is a class above.

As for the power unit, under the hood of the Iranian works a 1.6-liter aspirated engine with an output of 113 hp. Of. It is mated to a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed “automatic”. This engine is a mystery. On the one hand, it resembles a French unit. On the other hand, there are solutions typical of the Japanese car industry. If this is some kind of hybrid of technologies, then its source is incomprehensible.

It is known for being reliable, but the “vaunted” Chinese quality will only manifest itself during actual use. In general, the first buyers will literally feel the durability of the power unit in their skin. Recalling the experience of the Chinese auto industry entering the Russian market, let’s assume that drivers will face many problems. After all, the same Haval crossovers burned in the winter. But this car is much more modern and expensive than Tara.

It was also embarrassing that the metal in the trunk is not covered with pile or plastic. If you load heavy and massive things there, the paint can be easily scratched and this is always unpleasant for the owner. In short, if we evaluate the “Vesta” and its potential “killer”, then the Russian sedan will still be alive. Tara is noticeably inferior to “our brand” in build quality, design and the plastic in the cabin is very cheap. And the power source is a real pig in the bag.

In addition, the future of Khodro Tara will depend on a developed dealer network and the availability of a wide range of spare parts and bodies. It is impossible to achieve all this in a short time. So it is easier to wait for AvtoVAZ to resume production of its flagship or pay attention to understandable used cars such as Solaris or Rio.
