The Russian car market “dropped” by 62% in August

Another piece of statistic from the Association of European Businesses (AEB) in Russia states on the one hand the subsidence of the car market in the country and on the other hand shows some improvement in the situation. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

According to the results of sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia for August 2022, published by the AEB, the domestic car market fell by 62.4% compared to the same period last year. Last month 41,698 units of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold compared to 69,172 units a year earlier. However, compared to July 2022, there is a noticeable increase in sales volumes. The results in August were 29% higher than in July.

Almost all car brands currently present in Russia ‘sank’ last month compared to last August. With the exception of Haval, which added 26% more of its cars (2990 vs. 2373 units) and DFM, which showed an increase of 72% (280 vs. 103 units). It is also curious that LADA reported a minimal drop in sales against the background of competitors. So in August 2022, 18,087 cars of the brand went to customers, and a year earlier only 7% more – 19,428 cars.
