It became known which SUVs and crossovers were most bought by Russian citizens this year. The list includes both affordable models and cult premium “rogues”, which are traditionally expensive for Russians. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells about the most popular heavy fuel vehicles.

According to the Avtostat agency, just over 30,000 new passenger cars with diesel engines have been found in our country in the seven months of 2022. At the same time, 52% of them account for only a dozen models. The vast majority here are crossovers and SUVs, and only one van, but also the one to which the manufacturer has “glued” the prefix “cross”.

Renault Duster became the most popular heavy fuel crossover. From January to July, 3,274 diesel modifications of the Duster were sold. Recall that the Duster of both generations was equipped with a 1.5-liter supercharged “diesel” with a capacity of 109 liters. Of. The motor has high torque and is reliable, but has weaknesses. In the first place is the rotation of the liners, especially if the car was taken from Europe, where service intervals are much longer than in Russia. In second place is fuel equipment. By the way, this “pain” did not pass any model in the list. You can therefore only fill the solarium at proven petrol stations. Finally – the EGR system, which should be cleaned after 30,000 km. Otherwise, the car may turn at a traffic light.

Second place is taken by Hyundai Tucson, in which the diesel version accounts for more than half of the turnover (65.6%). Here we note the novelty of the model and the fact that crossovers are most often used in the city. And in megacities they monitor the quality of fuel. If you fill in the “bodyagu”, as we wrote above, problems with the fuel equipment begin.

Apparently, these fears are foreign to the owners of the BMW X5, who prefer to buy “Germans” with diesel units. They accounted for 83.7% of sales! However, the health of the “German” largely depends on what the owner “feeds” him. If the fuel is so-so, the jets and elements of the fuel system are the first to be affected. Further. Worn valves lead to knocking, loss of dynamics, vibration and expensive repairs.

It is interesting that the largest share of “diesel” was in the sales structure of the Kia Carnival cross bus – 93%. This is understandable, as a family car needs a fuel-efficient, high-torque engine. Since the car is new, no special “sores” have been noticed in the van, so it’s too early to talk about it.

Next on the list are iconic Toyota models, the Land Cruiser, LC Prado and Hilux. Their units are reliable and economical, and in the vastness of Russia they know how to properly maintain all these machines. That’s why they still carry the title of dream car.
