State Duma deputies from the LDPR faction wrote a letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin asking them to consider customs exemptions for motorists in the Far East. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.
“…to make concessions to the residents of Sakhalin and other regions of the Russian Far East when purchasing an imported used car for personal use only,” the deputies ask the head of the Russian government in their appeal.
In addition, the document proposes to develop a mechanism to reduce customs duties on imports of passenger cars throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
– We were recently on a work trip to Sakhalin. Local residents told us that new passenger cars are practically inaccessible to them for obvious reasons. And their economic situation is now such that the purchase of used “right-hand drive” imported from Japan becomes a problem. That is why we turned to the government with a proposal to make it easier for citizens to buy personal vehicles by lowering import duties,” Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, responded to the appeal to Mishustin .
