The problem of motorists driving cars without mufflers or with loud music, as well as noisy motorcyclists, was solved last summer by the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, when he ordered to work out the question of punishment for such comrades. In September 2021, Moscow’s TsODD began testing new complexes that can automatically fine car and motorcycle owners, but the project stalled.
Now it has been announced that the prototypes are ready and the mandatory certification will start. After all, before the cameras are put into operation, “you have to make sure that the readings are accurate so that there are no errors and fines are sent to exactly whoever violated the violation,” said Mr. Liksutov, answering questions from our colleagues from Kommersant.
The vice mayor has not indicated when drivers will be fined for noise based on data from the complexes. He only noted that “there is no job to do it tomorrow or the day after.” For example, the most important thing is to “develop a good competitive product so as not to be dependent on one manufacturer”.
Another thing is that the story with such cameras is in fact still illegal. At least because the sound of, for example, the exhaust system of the engine is measured at a distance of 50 centimeters from the cut pipe with special devices, and not with a camera installed at an incomprehensible angle, from a distant pillar. But who cares – the treasury needs to be replenished.
