There is less and less confidence and reasons to turn to the “officials” – they have no spare parts, warranty obligations are not respected and the bases are switched off – that is why most car owners are looking for a new gas station. But even something as simple as changing the oil is a daunting task for many mechanics. Why, explains the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

After February 24, the principles of service and maintenance on a car have changed radically: official dealers of car brands have completely lost all their advantages and the “grey market” of gas stations is thriving. The “profile” and “club” have a stock of spare parts, the masters are often much higher class than the dealers and the prices are lower. And sometimes. And cost, as you know, is always a deciding factor for us. And service providers know this of course.

It is for this reason that many, at first glance, optional operations are excluded from the mandatory car service manual – it’s no secret, it’s quick and easy to search the Internet for quite open sources. Fewer “consumables”, the elevator and master are released faster, more machines can be serviced in one day – profit. However, this “gain” can go sideways.

A simple example. The most important act of any maintenance is to change the engine oil. Well, it seems, where could it go wrong? But it is possible, and very consciously and with very unpleasant consequences. The principle of the procedure, known to everyone: the plug was unscrewed, the outlet was emptied, the filter was replaced, the plug was screwed in, the oil was filled according to the level. The child will cope with it, as can be seen at first glance.

But even here serious problems arise, leading to breakdowns and repeated visits to the service: it turns out that sometimes the cork in the crankcase needs to be replaced – strictly, we note, according to regulations, and strictly according to the mileage.

In addition, many car models, in addition to the cork, are also equipped with a special copper ring, which generally changes every time the cork is unscrewed. Is the master familiar with such details? Will he send a messenger for the right part to get the job done right? Of course not.

He will tighten the bolt so that no oil drips out of the bottom, and of course he will get a crack in the crankcase. Despite the extremely important function that the pallet has, it is quite fragile, as a result of which cracks regularly appear in it. The cork tightened a little – and hello. No one has heard of a torque wrench in a “budget” service – it’s expensive!

The next item is, of course, oil. Strangely enough, it is profitable for a workshop to sell its own workshop, so attractive prices for work are often inseparable from the purchase of spare parts on site. This is where compositions come into play that no one has ever tested. Let’s say you are lucky, you have your own oil and there is confidence in it. But how often has it happened that they pour it so stupidly, so much so that all the seals were squeezed out?

At the official dealer, no matter how many reasons for legitimate anger he gives, the master gets a clear amount of lubricant in the magazine, which he automatically pours into the neck. There is no room for error here.

Filters. And here is a place for “marriage”: we will not disassemble fake and cheap spare parts, we will talk only about work. Before replacing the air filter, carefully clean the box so that dust and dirt do not get into the cylinders. The same goes for the lubricant: the pad and threads need cleaning, and this is time, that is money. Second, the filter must be installed correctly in order to do its job. There have been many cases when a misaligned oil filter was simply torn off – the pressure there is significant, up to 10 bar.

A car is a complex and expensive mechanism in which no distinction is made between simple and complex. Any operation for its maintenance, no matter how childish it looks, should only be carried out by a specialist and only in accordance with the prescribed manual. And where he works, whether for himself in the garage or at an authorized dealer – it doesn’t matter at all. The main thing is the warranty that the latter regularly gave and carried. Until recently, that was certain.
