From 11 to 14 September I had the opportunity to take part in Intel Tech Tour in Israel. It was more than just an event, it was an immersion in the transformation that the company is going through and which should happen in 2025.
Israel was chosen for a reason: Intel arrived there in 1974 with just five engineers. Today already 14,000 employees companies in the city, being almost 10,000 engineers.? At the plant, in particular, the company employs 5,000 employees, most of whom are engineers or technicians trained at the best universities in Israel. There are three of the top 50 engineering universities in the world!
We visited the 24/7 game room created by Samsung and partners at Faria Lima, in SP!
Another fact that draws attention is the number of women in leadership positions both at IDC and at the plant. At the factory, 30% of the team consists of female engineersmany with PhDs and super-qualifieds.
In addition to some news (which I cannot cover yet due to the embargo), I was able to get acquainted with how the chips are made, visit the place where they are developed and manufactured. That is, I went through various stages of the whole process.
It was a unique opportunity to enter ultra-modern buildings where there were very few journalists, and certainly not Brazilians (until now).
O IDC – Intel Development Center in Israel is the largest Intel chip design and verification center outside of California, and several important milestones of the company have been developed here, such as Pentium MMX this is dual core in 2005. In 2006 and 2007 Israeli engineers created Converged Core, which put IDC at the center of the Intel card with the many opportunities it provided to the company in the server and desktop space. In other words, the whole concept of Intel Core processors was developed at IDC in Israel. Graphics integrated in CPU DIE? Well, it was there too.
In addition to visiting IDC, I also visited FAB 28, the factory that makes Intel’s most advanced chips, with detailed explanations from the company’s most famous executives (who are, of course, the engineers who dominate the whole process). I put on a hazmat suit called a rabbit suit, went into the factory clean room, and had an engineer’s day. A unique experience for those who love technology!
In addition to work, I was also able to visit Tel Aviv, a city on the Mediterranean coast, not far from where IDC and the factory are located. I hope you enjoy the tour and soon I will provide more detailed and technical videos of this tour and releases on adrenalin!
