Thinking about the safety and planning of their drivers, and trying to avoid excessive flight cancellations, Uber confirmed earlier this week that partners will now know the final destination of the requesting passenger and the total cost of the trip. The function is not new for residents of small towns, as it has already been tested in them.
The innovation will be limited not only to trips at regular prices, but also to dynamic fares adjusted according to demand at each location, which can change depending on the weather or even Saturday night bar closings.
With the consolidation of the resource, it will now also be available to drivers in capitals, including federal ones – Brasilia – and São Paulo. The collaborator app will be updated.
“The goal is to make every offer even clearer,” Aracely Almeida, security manager for Uber, said in a press release. “Providing more details about the trips requested through the app so that partners can decide in advance which ones they want to take.”
Prior to the change, the driver only saw a forecast of travel time, and income was estimated based on distance and duration. In short, it will no longer be necessary to accept an offer to know the final destination and cost.
“For drivers, showing the trajectory is welcome because it’s been talked about since 2017,” said Eduardo Lima, president of AMASP (Association of Motorcycle Fighters and Application Drivers of São Paulo) Automotive Business.
New dynamic prices and one-way cost are not encouraging
While the change was good from a logistical point of view, the financial aspect was not well received. The dynamic price calculation changed from a “multiplier” to a “fixed value”, which reduced revenue in case of higher demand. In addition, changes in the approach to the route also did not satisfy the collaborators.
“It’s in a different format that didn’t work,” Lima also commented to Automotive Business. Uber says nothing has changed, but in practice, drivers complain that there is a backlog. In practice, the transfer has decreased in dynamics.
Continuation after commercial
“Previously, the driver received a basic fare and a calculation of travel time and kilometers traveled. For example, if [agora] the passenger says, “Go to the alley so I can pick up my daughter” or something like that, the driver will drive an additional distance, spend more time, but still earn the amount that was agreed.
