Traffic police cameras will no longer pay for minor traffic violations

The Government of the Russian Federation approved a variant of amendments to the Code of Administrative Violations, exempting transport personnel from heavy fines for minor violations. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

A group of deputies of the State Duma suggested that Art. 12.21.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. It actually cancels the effect of its part 1 in the event of a violation by the cameras. The fact is that this clause threatens a fine of 150,000 rubles for the owner of a truck whose dimensions exceed the established size by less than 10 cm above the prescribed size. It appears that owners of trucks with tilt trailers are affected by this legal provision. The oncoming airflow inflates the fabric, visually enlarging the car. Recording cameras are documenting this and are sending massive “letters of happiness” to the owners of long-haul vehicles.

The problem appears to be so widespread that the intervention of legislators was necessary. “RG” reports that the government has generally responded positively to the bill. This suggests it will be passed by the State Duma and the cameras will stop punishing truck drivers for such a minor traffic violation.
