We also conducted an important interview about the current situation and future of Dacia Turkey.

Berk Çağdaş, General Manager of Renault Mais, answered our questions at Dacia’s press conference in Paris. Cagdas shared Dacia Turkey’s goals for 2022 and 2023 as follows:

“As Dacia, we had better expectations for 2022 as Mais. We have also made a more positive budget for 2022. Then the Ukraine-Russia problem arose. The supply problem was also discussed. There was already a jeep crisis. We felt advantageous because we produced domestically and the sales weight of those products was higher in our total revenue. Logistical problems and scarcity of raw materials in particular affected the entire sector. We showed a serious performance as Renault and Dacia in Turkey. At the end of August we sold 58,500 Renaults and 23,700 Dacias. You know, Dacia is just a passenger car, we don’t have a company car. 52 thousand Renaults are passenger cars. Therefore, to this day we have come up with 88 thousand units.

After that, we will achieve our year-end targets at Dacia. market share was around 5%. In August we passed this market share. The problem is that we try to meet an existing demand with the limited supply we have. First, we try to meet the retail demand on the dealer side, then the business, fleet and large fleet demand. The priority is always with the dealer, namely the retail trade. With the sales we made this year and the sales we plan to make next year, we will pass the 500 thousand as Dacia in Turkey. It is important for us to reach a market where 500,000 vehicles have been sold in about 10 years. Personally, I strongly believe in this brand Dacia. As Oyak, we believe as a group. Because we offer vehicles that are highly compatible with Turkish purchasing power, standard of living and family life, with a cost-benefit ratio. Can you say that something is missing for the Duster model? Now, with the Dacia Spring, he started with the motto that everyone should be able to enter and drive an electric vehicle. Dacia Spring, which we aim to launch in the first quarter of 2023, is coming to Turkey with its big engine. I expect a lot of interest on both the individual and the rental side. I am especially interested in the younger generation.

I don’t know how much Dacia Spring will be delivered to Turkey. But a seller, a distributor in Turkey, a manufacturer like us, who dominates the B and C segment and is the market leader, should have a fleet target of 20-25 percent. A fleet is not a vehicle without a sale. Even if you calculate the fleet rate at 25 percent, Dacia’s share is around 25-30 percent. Of course we are dominated by Renault there. We can say that Dacia Spring will make up most of it.

The goal of Dacia 2023 will certainly be to continue this year’s success. So we are in the top 7. Getting 6th or 5th would be a success for me. I believe we will be. Duster is refreshed. Model and product change. Dacia offers all types of vehicles for everyone who appeals to the user group that puts mobility first. I trust the brand very much. This will continue to be the case in 2023. Under normal circumstances, it should be one of the top brands, in the current trend… I believe that.”
