The traffic police and the Ministry of Digital Development were close to converting all driving licenses into electronic format. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

“From October 1 this year, we plan to launch an electronic service for presenting a driver’s license in the State Services Auto mobile application,” said Mikhail Chernikov, chief of traffic police, at the Kazan Digital Week forum. .

He explained that the system will initially operate in an experimental mode. The service is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year. According to Chernikov, it should be available everywhere in Russia, including in places where there is no internet connection. Previously, drivers have already started using electronic versions of OSAGO policies and vehicle registration certificates (CTCs). They can be presented to the traffic police officer by logging into your account on the State Service website. After the introduction of electronic “licenses” into practice, it is enough for a motorist to carry only a smartphone and get rid of paper driver documents.

Please note, however, that the SDA currently only provides for the OSAGO policy to provide it to the traffic police officer electronically. The letter of the current version of the regulations provides for such a possibility neither for the STS nor for the driving licence.
