To begin with, it should be remembered that since September 13, the tariff corridor for OSAGO has expanded by 26%. The decision of the Central Bank allows insurers to further reduce payments to victims, working on the cost of cheap and not always high-quality analogues of components.
And taking into account the fact that industry experts recently discussed the possibility of amending the OSAGO law, which will allow cars to be repaired with “used” spare parts, but with a much longer delay, car owners will simply stop buying insurance policy.
However, they are now only acquired to avoid fines from the traffic police. This is at least apparent from the results of a number of sociological studies. In other words, even before the innovations, OSAGO was not very effective, but now it becomes completely pointless
“According to insurance companies, 25-50% of car owners in various regions already do not buy policies. In this regard, I urge the head of the Central Bank to lower the basic rates of OSAGO,” Sergey Mironov, chairman of the Just Russia – For Truth party, sent an appeal to the Central Bank.
The MP stressed that “the increase in rates is not necessary.” By law, insurers are required to pay out 77% of the money raised, but often this figure does not exceed 60%, directly pointing to companies’ excess profits and the lack of economic justification for raising rates.
But the Central Bank is unlikely to appreciate Mr. Mironov’s concern for car owners, and rates will indeed be lowered.
