According to TASS, three strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipelines were destroyed today, which is unprecedented according to Nord Stream AG.

The incident on the gas pipelines has already been called sabotage. The scale is difficult to estimate, but one thing is certain: extremely difficult times are ahead for the German car industry, as one of the locomotives of the European economy.
For example, Volkswagen has previously stated that if the problems with natural gas supplies to Germany and Eastern Europe continue, the group is ready to move its production facilities to other EU regions. It seems that everything goes here. The manufacturer will have to move its main assets to countries with access to the sea and terminals for receiving liquefied natural gas. First of all, these are Portugal, Spain and Belgium. Incidentally, the Germans already have a number of companies there.
However, the transfer of entire car factories is not going fast. That is why we do not rule out the possibility that there will be fewer bestsellers such as the Volkswagen Golf, Tiguan and Passat in the salons of European dealers. Yes, and in other markets they will disappear.
It will not be easy for Mercedes to switch to electric traction with their plans. After all, you need a lot of cheap energy for the production of electric cars and traction batteries, which is no longer available anywhere. So the jump into the bright “electric future” is postponed indefinitely. And this comes with losses, which is already quite a lot this year. Recall that due to the withdrawal from Russia, Merce lost 709 million euros. The losses due to the lack of cheap raw materials will be even greater. Moreover, old problems are added, because the supply of electronics is still faltering.
As for the French, Renault will get the most here. Recall that when the French company left our country, according to its own data, it lost 2.32 billion euros. Plus a promising market. Now another accident, already in Europe.
We also note that this year absolutely all European car companies have already faced shortages of critical materials – rare earths, nickel and neon. Due to interruptions in the supply of parts, some factories of Porsche, BMW and Mini have suspended the production of cars. Looks like this isn’t the end of the story. The sabotage at Nord Stream will completely disable the entire European car industry. And German car manufacturers will no longer be the locomotive of the EU economy. Maybe they should go back to Russia, where there will certainly be no interruptions in the gas supply?
