Electric scooters on the Moscow ring road and the third ring road: how children cheat kick-sharing services
Wild time – wild stories. This one is about how minors cheat algorithms and use kicksharing services that unsuspecting parents have to pay for. And it is also good that a small user of electric rental scooters did not harm anyone and did not suffer himself. The AvtoVzglyad portal spoke to the mother of the young “fighter against the system”.

The fact that rental services of all modes of transport have obvious safety concerns was not just said by lazy people. From time to time we are struck by terrible stories of how children used a fake account, rented a car-sharing car and got into a serious accident. Now it seems that electric scooter rental services have taken the baton to generate similar shock content.

β€œOn September 25, I was at work, when I suddenly saw that the payment for using the Whoosh service began to be debited from the Tinkoff Junior children’s card,” said Elena Yakovleva, a Muscovite. β€” Of course, I immediately contacted Whoosh support to clarify the situation. To which I got a wonderful answer that they can only give me clarification if I write them from the child’s email or from the application installed on his phone. That is, my 12-year-old son, who did not have “rights”, did not know the rules of driving an electric scooter, just downloaded the application, somehow used the adult rental service and unchecked the area drove. He can be hit by a car or hit a person. Who would be responsible for this? Probably me, as a legal representative of the child, but I was at work and basically could not do anything, and the support service was also inactive …

“If the child causes harm to someone as a result of such a trip, then the parent is responsible for it,” lawyer Ilya Afanasyev explained to the AvtoVzglyad portal. – Services in such a situation must perform additional authorization, for example through a video call with the submission of documents from the caller to confirm his age and legal capacity to complete this transaction. It is a pity that the desire to make money from something and the absence of difficult precedents so far obscure the eyes of operators of such services …

And indeed, the demand for kicksharing is now apparently zero. For example, after talking with neighbors, the mother of a young scooter enthusiast learned even more interesting things. It turns out that teenagers, and sometimes children of primary school age, use such services violently – this is a common phenomenon. They indicate in the application the date of birth “corrected” in the direction of increasing age and drive electric scooters everywhere and everywhere – both on the roadway and with passengers, and at maximum speed.

β€” If the scooter rental service were to ask for passport details or a listing in public services, street traffic would become much safer. I think this is something that our transport officials and our government, which is concerned about road safety, should pay the utmost attention. And now they only write in the application that the user must be over 18 years old, but they don’t check this in any way. This only means one thing – they just don’t care about the safety of our kids and there’s no one to ask the rental services for, either – concludes the mother of a young user of the kicksharing service.
