The self-driving cars of Cruise, a subsidiary of General Motors, have repeatedly caused wild traffic jams on the streets of San Francisco. Gazeta.ru writes about this, referring to the SFGate website. It seems that the new technologies created to make human life easier have so far only caused discomfort.

According to the US edition, three similar incidents occurred last week. Two drones blocked traffic at the intersection of Sacramento and Leavenworth streets. A traffic jam immediately arose behind them, in which a city bus fell into. In another case, an unmanned vehicle automatically turned into a dedicated lane, hampering public transport.

A representative of the cruise company said this was for technical reasons, because in case of danger, all drones stop and sound the alarm. That is, congestion is inevitable.

Similar difficulties await Russian drivers, as the authorities have already declared that “autopilot” cars can start driving on the M11 toll road between Moscow and St. Petersburg. In other words, ordinary helmsmen will “roll over” problems, and road builders will earn a lot. According to RBC, up to 6 million rubles per kilometer must be invested in order to provide the tracks with the necessary infrastructure.
