Autumn is the time of closed windows, so comfort in the cabin directly depends on its cleanliness. Obviously, nothing can replace regular washing with a vacuum cleaner, but sometimes these procedures are not enough. Then the drivers remember the cabin filter, which is the last thing to change in Russia: they removed the glove compartment, were shocked, shook out a kilogram of dirt, in which the filter element itself was hidden, vacuumed the cavity and everything around it , placed a new one. Can you breathe easy? And here it is not.
Editorial Mitsubishi Lancer – a mature car with a difficult fate – is designed to answer many operational questions, find and reveal topics that are not characteristic of a new car. Today’s story, in one word. And he smelled terribly of dust: no chemistry, “Christmas trees” and other candles in the armrests could not overcome the encrusted smell of time.
The salon was vacuumed hundreds of times, they used ingenuity and dexterity, but it was useless: as soon as the window was closed, the hand itself searched for the forgotten covid mask in the bag. Autumn came with rain, the window stopped saving, it is time to deal with the urgent problem. Otherwise it is dangerous to operate the car. For the psyche, yes.
We conduct general cleaning, the results of which we will tell separately – it was worth it. We have no air filter, no visible dust, the air supply system has been preemptively cleaned and “things are still there.” Realizing that “it wasn’t about the reel”, we continue the study: we washed all the cavities, niches and boxes. Even the trunk! But it didn’t get it any closer to the goal.
However, it was worth removing the decorative panel from the center console, which hides the gearshift lever, as an entire warehouse of dust, debris and other traces of existence opened up to us. Change, business cards and other artifacts are included.
Of course the “stove in the legs” has blown these deposits all over the cabin! Frankly, I was even ashamed of the vacuum cleaner. Just a thorough cleaning of this hidden recess, followed by a “wet cleaning”, led to a significant improvement in the atmosphere in the cabin. And also – to the new items on the to-do list: now it will be impossible to refuse to disassemble and clean the stove, or at least the engine, which is probably also clogged with dirt and dust.
It’s worth looking under the dash, which certainly includes where to clean up. But first of all, we will definitely remove the seats: not only is it impossible to clean underneath without dismantling, but the seats themselves need an extensive cleaning. How do you do that cheaply? We will tell in the next issue of our blog about a car that drove and did not know the owner’s attention.
