Why you should not rush to sell the car during partial mobilization?
Partial mobilization naturally worried everyone. And among other rash acts, citizens started selling their cars, especially as demand for new cars fell by a third in a week. “Nightmare” and rumors that certain models may reportedly retire for the needs of the military. Nevertheless, the AvtoVzglyad portal suggests not to rush to part with your “iron horse” and tells why.

According to the source Drom.ru, the demand for new cars fell by 30% in the period from September 21 to September 29. That is, partial mobilization puts sales on hold. In addition, a number of sources claim that citizens have started to dispose of used vehicles. In other words, in the near future more cars will enter the “secondary market”, which will lead to price drops. And overbids already offer “prices” that are 15-30% below market prices.

Rumors that the vehicles could be taken away for the needs of the military are adding to the problems. Here we note that since 2014 the Decree of the Minister of Defense No. 151 is in force with the corresponding list of vehicles suitable for mobilization. It says that in the first place heavy trucks and special vehicles may be needed. So owners of sedans, station wagons, vans and sports cars need not worry: their ground clearance is too low and there are no off-road options.

And four-wheel drive cars like the Niva, UAZ (Hunter and Patriot), Kruzakov (LC300 and Prado) are theoretically suitable, but it is still difficult to imagine them as a military vehicle. So, the authorities do not go to the “autocall”, about which the AvtoVzglyad portal has already written.

In this hassle it is useful to think about the future. Selling in a panic is a big mistake, which comes with the loss of quite a bit of money. The best strategy in a crisis is to do nothing. Park your car. Any car will easily survive a long layover, which can last two to four months. Because of this, unless the battery is depleted, it will “grab” the parking brake pads with rust and the pressure in the tires will drop. These are all trifles.

The only problem is oil, which flows into the crankcase at idle speed, leaving the internal surfaces of the engine unprotected. The first seconds after starting such an engine runs dry. That is, there will be damage, but minimal: the engine will withstand it.

In general, after being demobilized, a citizen will easily bring his “iron horse” back into working order. But the people who sold the car will buy it again. And faced a sharp rise in prices. Inflation also takes its toll. So they will pay too much, and quite significantly. But next year, cars will become less affordable. The government will scrap cheap loan programs and there will be fewer car manufacturers in Russia.
