The massive use of traffic police cameras to record phone conversations while driving started this year and immediately brought with it a rich harvest of fines. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

Moscow’s traffic police said its employees recorded 607,673 cases of drivers talking on cell phones while driving in the first eight months of 2022. Of these, 607,075 – using photo and video fixation complexes. According to art. 12.36.1. Code of Administrative Violations, the fine for this violation is 1500 rubles. If you pay it within 20 days, the state will be satisfied with only 50% of the amount indicated in the code.

Let’s assume that absolutely all Moscow motorists who were “rechargeable” this year took advantage of the discount. This means that they gave at least 455 million rubles to the city budget. At this rate, the total amount of fines “for the phone” in Moscow by the end of the year can reach the level of 683 million rubles (of course, taking into account the “discount” of 50%). If not all violators take advantage of this, then the revenues from the treasury will be even more impressive. But even if we are talking about 683 million, this means that 362 Moscow cameras that can fine drivers “for the phone”, will successfully pay for themselves in early 2023 and continue to bring profits to the budget of the capital.
