Now in the Russian used car market there is a sharp increase in the supply of fairly “fresh” premium “Europeans” – mainly Mercedes-Benz. Cars are almost in perfect condition, without problems with documents and legally clean in large quantities “hang” on specialized advertising sites. Informal communication with employees of several multi-brand dealers produced an interesting picture. The owners of the German “premium” are actively trading their cars and switching to Chinese models.

It turns out that they have recently encountered very great difficulties in maintaining their machines. And also with a greatly increased cost of ownership. For example, the annual maintenance of a Mercedes-Benz S-class now costs about 1 million rubles. The author of these lines recently got into a conversation with the owner of such a 2018 car. Some time ago, after a small accident, one headlight had to be replaced. According to him, it took more than two months to wait for delivery to Russia, during which the car was shut down. And the headlight itself cost the motorist about 500,000 rubles.

During an informal survey among employees of several official Mercedes-Benz service stations, it was found that owners of cars of this brand usually have problems with the repair and maintenance of the braking system, engine cooling system, replacement of defective electronic components and other things.

– The trend to switch from premium “Germans” to “Chinese” started to form in the summer and in the past month this flow has increased dramatically. Now, according to our data, every third person who wants to buy a Chinese car is the owner of a premium “German”. And above all, get rid of Mercedes-Benz. From BMW cars – to a lesser extent. They change primarily in Exeed in top trim levels. Much less often – on Haval F7, F7X and Dargo, – said the founder of the online auction of new cars Carclick.ru Sergey Pigolkin.

Recently, another trend has become more and more active. German premium car owners are actively changing their cars for electric trains and ordering their delivery from China. Although they know very well that in Russia for electric vehicles there is neither an operational infrastructure nor a service system.

Nevertheless, the former “mersovod” most actively order the delivery from the Middle Kingdom of electric cars in the maximum configuration as Zeekr (sub-brand Geely), BYD Han EV and Volkswagen ID6. Typically, there is almost a queue for the four-wheel drive version of the latter!

We also note that some former owners of pathos “Germans” are now actively mastering the Korean “premium” – Genesis cars. Officially, these cars are now not imported into Russia. But you can easily buy them in Kazakhstan and bring them here. In any case, this is very beneficial. For reference, let’s say that now in the salons of Russian official dealers of Genesis, for example, the GV80 model has price tags in the range of 7.3 – 8.8 million rubles. And their Kazakh colleagues have about 6 million. Taking into account customs clearance and delivery, such a car in Moscow will cost up to 6.3-6.5 million rubles.

– But the most surprising thing is that the attitude of the owners of German cars towards their reliability has changed a lot now! Recently I very often hear from them that they are not sure about the quality of the “Germans” and believe that the modern “Chinese” are much superior to the European “premium” in terms of trouble-free operation, – Sergey Pigolkin shared his observations with the AvtoVzglyad portal.
