Tire traction and grip properties are especially important on slippery surfaces. Negative temperatures persist for a significant part of the year in many regions of Russia. The roads of our country are often covered with snow and sometimes with ice. Therefore, reliable tires with good traction properties on your truck are a guarantee of safety and a guarantee of timely execution of contracts.

If you can only determine the mileage “in fact” of the operation, you can discover such a characteristic as grip at the stage of purchase. Here the information published on the Euromark can be a useful tool. All tires sold in the European Union have a special Euromark sticker. In short, the Euromark is an eco-sticker that shows the results of road tests on bench and laboratory tests in independent certification laboratories, carried out according to special, uniform methods for all, laid down by EU Directive No. 2020/740. The Euromark contains information about three characteristics of the tyre. These are wet braking, rolling resistance coefficient (fuel efficiency) and noise level.

In this case we are interested in wet braking classes. If you do a little analysis and compare the major players in the tire industry, you can see that there are many Cordiant Professional tires out there – for example regional FR-1 steer tires in size 315/80R22.5 and DR-1 drive tires in size 315 /70R22.5 – in terms of braking performance, they have the highest possible class A, that is, they are on the same level as premium brands and in part even exceed them.

But what if you test the performance of tires in really tough conditions? Therefore, the company “Cordiant” went to the ice of Lake Baikal. Here, during the “Days of Speed ​​​​on Baikal Ice” trials, series tires from the regional Cordiant Professional FR-1 and DR-1 line were installed on a 500 hp Ford F-Max tractor. As part of the tests, maximum speed races were conducted in a straight line on the bare ice of the lake. The test truck had a top speed of 138 km/h on the straight and also showed an average speed of 135,895 km/h at a distance of 1 kilometer from the move. These figures became national records and were registered in the list of records of the RAF (Russian Automobile Federation).

In addition to straight-line testing, Cordiant and Ford F-Max tires were tested in a new discipline for the Days of Speed ​​at Baikal Ice – a 500-kilometer race along a curve-packed ring track. The tractor overcame it in 6 hours, with an average speed of 91 km / h. This high average speed was made possible by the good road holding of the Cordiant Professional handlebars and excellent grip. Ford and Cordiant pioneered the new circuit and set the bar high for future participants in such events.

The coefficient of adhesion with pavement on Baikal is about 7-10 times lower than on wet asphalt. High speeds in such conditions perfectly demonstrate the grip qualities of Cordiant Professional tires. Cordiant tires are specially designed for Russian roads and have good traction properties, which is noticed by customers in the real thing and confirmed by rigorous tests on the Baikal ice.
