The development of commercial vehicles with electric motors in Russia began a long time ago. Both large domestic car factories and small companies have such cars. The choice is wide, but not obvious. About the most high-profile projects, sometimes failed, the AvtoVzglyad portal tells.

Let’s start with the MOSKVA truck, which was built by the capital company Drive Electro on the basis of the KamAZ chassis. In 2020, the AvtoVzglyad portal has already tested the new product, so we only remember a few details. The payload of the Moskva is just over seven tons, and the specified power reserve is 200 km. Such machines were planned to be used by the well-known Magnit retail chain. However, judging by the fact that we haven’t heard anything else about the project, the retailer hasn’t bought innovative “heavy trucks” en masse. Apparently the range was too short.

As for KamAZ itself, it continues to work on this topic. Photos of experimental trucks are “walking” the web, one of which shows the electric truck has a Mercedes-Benz Axor cab and traction batteries on the sides of the frame. Apparently, KAMAZ went the same way as their former shareholder Daimler, but did not quite copy German developments. In general, they have their own design. If we talk about the power reserve, then, according to some reports, the truck can travel from 100 to 200 km, which is comparable to the performance of the “Moscow” and is also not impressive.

There are interesting “electric trains” and the “GAZ Group”. The first Nizhny Novgorod electric Gazelle appeared in 2009, and in 2014 work began on the GAZelle NEXT Electro project. The work was carried out by the company SpetsAvtoEngineering, as an order had been received for electric vans from the company Rosseti. As a result, the Gazelle NEXT Electro was built on the basis of an all-metal 7-seat van with a two-row cab. And in 2021 they showed the Gazelle e-NN with an electric motor with an efficiency of 136 hp. Of. and a traction battery of a rather modest capacity – 48 kW / h. Of these, the power reserve is only 120 km. However, this figure is credible, because the Gazelle e-NN is much lighter than heavy trucks.

UAZ was not on the side, or rather, his truck UAZ Profi. That’s strange, because the car is clearly raw and does not differ in comfort and build quality. Nevertheless, two projects appeared in Russia at the same time, which are based on the Profi chassis.

For example, EcoAvtoProf is the result of the joint efforts of SpetsAvtoEngineering, ST Nizhegorodets and Sollers Engineering. This electric “UAZ” is powered by a 95 hp synchronous electric motor. Of. manufactured by a Chinese company. At the same time, the power can be increased for a short time to 150 kW (204 hp). The engine is combined with a single-speed single-speed gearbox, which has a cooling system. Therefore, the oil in the gearbox must be changed after 50,000 kilometers. As for the battery, it is installed between the frame bars and offers a maximum range of 300 km.

The next project is EVM Pro from St. Petersburg innovators Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus. The AvtoVzglyad portal has already talked about the new product in detail and even tested it, so we will limit ourselves to just a few sentences. A loaded car can drive 200 km, which is not bad. But the quality of the Profi truck itself is confusing. For example, if all the electrical “filling” developed in St. Petersburg were installed on a Gazelle, it would be much more attractive. But since the developers chose UAZ, they are sure that this truck will become more popular. We will not argue, we will only add that the company plans to cooperate with Moskvich, as well as to develop an electric motor that will be placed near the rear axle. This removes the drive shaft, reducing the weight of the car.

Finally, another curiosity of Tulamashzavod is the electric Ant truck. The company specializes in the production of weapons, and the “ant” is the fruit of the conversion. The payload is one ton, the drive is either from batteries or also from an on-board diesel generator. “Kid” is officially called “factory vehicle”, that is, it is used in closed rooms. Therefore, number plates are not necessary for the car. By the way, such “children” are not our know-how. There are plenty of such trucks in Europe. And there is an “ant” – from 1,460,000 rubles. That is the big advantage, because other electric cars are much more expensive, or are still being certified.
