The issue of regular cleaning in the car is not worth it – if you are in the cabin for several hours a day, you want to breathe clean air and not drown in mud. But how often do we perform a complex cleaning? Wash the “outside”, vacuum the inside and wipe it with a cloth napkin – weekly at best.
A big clean with a sense of order – no more than twice a year, depending on the mood. At the car wash, no matter how expensive, they won’t climb in the guts – they won’t be afraid to break the wires or touch a plug, so only the owner or reseller can submit their car to a real car for sale cleaning.
So the AvtoVzglyad portal decided to give the editors a bathing day Mitsubishi Lancer, which we bought for the sake of a detailed acquaintance with the problems of the car purchased on the bulletin board. Fortunately, it’s Thursday on the calendar.
It has already been subjected to a simple and even detailed wash more than once, but for the first time thoroughly and with analysis. Since the old smell of smoke and encrusted dust couldn’t be removed from the cabin last time, we move on and dig deeper. Here, wherever you stay, whatever problem you tackle, more and more new grounds for discussion emerge.
For the final and irrevocable victory over the hateful aromas, it was decided to “take the bull by the horns”, that is, disassemble the interior, clean and vacuum the entire surface of the carpet. No sooner said than done. “Terrible” rusty bolts for some reason gave way, showing a clean thread and traces of a factory repairman: the news is good, the seats were not removed for us. That is, the dirt has been accumulating for almost 18 years, we will see the “seat” in all its glory.
Two connectors broke off easily – thank you, the Japanese auto industry – and the seat was removed, opening the “perspective”. Believe me, there was something to see: clouds of dust and dirt, cigarette butts, coins with oxides, dead insects in a wide variety, bolts, self-tapping screws, nuts and much more. Even dog hair in small amounts. Hopefully dog.
First of all, of course, I want to put on gloves and a chemical suit. But the cargo has already been mentioned, the seats are on the sidelines, so let’s start cleaning. There is little hope for home appliances, here we need a more serious argument: a construction vacuum cleaner. But even he is unable to tear off the dust that has boiled on the nozzles of the air ducts for decades.
Three and vacuum in shifts, without slowing down. An hour of work allowed us to collect garbage and wet clean: foam, water, soap, all possible and impossible compositions, which abound in the garage of a motoring journalist. Slowly but surely the results came.
From checking in to the garage and tightening the last bolt, working in four hands, it took about seven hours. During this time it was possible not only to vacuum and wipe the dust, clean the carpet and expel all the illegal population from the salon, but also to finally finish the stagnant smell. From now on, the interior of the car will have only freshness and a delicate aroma of chemistry – no dust and tobacco stench with notes of spilled products.
A hard, hard-working, but well-deserved victory. Of course, we tried some life hacks – people, like everyone else, dream of finding a pill for all the misadventures on the Internet – which we will definitely tell you about in future publications.
