No time for “show-offs”: BMW is getting rid of the 8 Series convertible

In 2025, BMW will remove the 8-series coupe and convertible from its range. They plan to leave only the Gran Coupe: this change must survive the generational change. However, the model is already getting an electric drive unit, that is, we will not see the usual “eight”.

According to the Motor1 portal, a new model with an internal G77 index may appear in 2026, based on the already known and rather old CLAR platform. The electric car has to fill the gap between the i5 and i7.

Recall that the conversation about the discontinuation of the “two-door” 8 series began in 2019. Then insiders reported that due to declining demand, the Bavarians could also remove the Z4 roadster from the lineup. The funds released would be used for the development of electric cars.

Now the global crisis has added to the decline in popularity. The fate of the G8 is thus sealed. Expensive glamorous cars will take their place in the museum and make way for electric cars. An unenviable fate awaits them, however, as the energy crisis in Europe is only gaining momentum. It does not matter how the “Bavaria” against this background did not begin to produce electric scooters.
