The Russian car market is expected to continue its peak – the global crisis is doing its job. However, at least cars are being bought. And the demand,
According to the nine-month results of 2022, slightly more than 500,000 brand new cars were sold in our country, which is 60% less than a year earlier. As they say, there will be more. Or not!
Crossovers and SUVs still attract Russians who have not yet had time to spend their last savings. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out which models in the SUV segment our compatriots still buy.
According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), the domestic LADA Niva were the most popular among Russians in the period from January to September 2022. In addition, experts habitually combine the statistics of the Niva car line into single figures. So, for nine months, LADA Niva Travel and Niva Legend universal all-terrain vehicles sold just under 20,000 units. In comparison, in the same period last year, these cars were sold almost twice as many. But compared to August, the same Niva Legend improved sales by 19.7%, and compared to last September – by all 315%! In the case of Travel, this is also a worthy choice: +139.6% by the last month of summer and +28.4% by the beginning of autumn 2021.
The former headliner represented by Korean Hyundai Creta moved up to the second row of the charts with just over 16,000 cars sold. Incidentally, this is 70% less than last year.
The French-Russian crossover Renault Duster completed the TOP-3 – almost 11,500 Russian buyers voted for the model with a ruble. The decrease was 62%. However, dealers were running out of Dusters – the brand, as we remember, rolled up its rods, storage areas quickly emptied, dealers closed or refocused to sell cars of other brands. And especially Chinese.
By the way, about the Chinese. It was they who set the fourth and fifth position, demonstrating the positive dynamics of sales. For example, the Haval Jolion crossover found nearly 10,600 new owners in Russia, showing incredible growth. But judge for yourself: +212%! And the photo is crowned by a large SUV from Chery – Tiggo 7 PRO, which was chosen by 10,500 people. And that’s 5% more than a year ago.
By the way, Chinese automakers actively rushed to attack the Russian market, biting off an increasing share of the market, while some manufacturers are in the “freeze”, while others are going away altogether. Remember that after the brands that have ceased their activities in our country, others may follow. Among them are Isuzu, Mazda, Toyota and Lexus. It looks like we will soon be driving in the Russian UAZ and LADA, as well as foreign cars from the heavenly realm.
