Ferrari has released a teaser image of the new model. It is not yet clear what new product we are talking about, but it can be assumed that Maranello is preparing an “open” version of the two-seater berlinetta 296 GTB presented in the summer of 2021. It will likely get the 296 GTS, similar appearance except for the hard top, and the same hybrid powertrain based on a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 830 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque.
The laconic teaser shows a smooth line of the rear fairing, which here does not go into the roof, as well as a curved wing, like the 296 GTB – the air intake is built into the Berlinetta. Based on spy shots posted on Motor1, the roadster’s front end will come from the 296 GTB, while rear changes will be limited to adapting to a shift roof.
The filling is also expected to pass to the Berlinetta’s 296 GTS: it’s a petrol-electric setup that combines a V6 3.0 engine with a 167-horsepower electric motor. From zero to the first “hundred” 830-horsepower supercar accelerates in 2.9 seconds, up to 200 kilometers per hour – in 7.3, and the braking distance of 200 is 107 meters. The maximum speed is 330 kilometers per hour. Apparently, the roadster will receive similar parameters, but adjusted for the additional weight of the folding roof mechanism.
The electric motor is powered by a 7.45 kilowatt-hour battery located under the floor. The “door” has four operating modes, including only electric traction – in this case, the power reserve is limited to 25 kilometers, and the speed is 135 kilometers per hour.
Based on the 296 GTB, another supercar is being prepared to replace the outdated racing 488 GT3 EVO. The other day he was noticed at the Fiorano test track. The 296 GT3 will represent Ferrari in the racing series and will receive the same V6, but without an electric motor, and on the outside it will differ in aerodynamic “feathers” with a curved splitter, canard wings and a fixed wing.
