Alef Model A: 1.5 million reais flying car could hit the market in 2025

American startup Alef Aeronautics presented last Wednesday (19) its Alef Model A first flying car prototype. According to the startup, it will be “the first real flying car.” due to be launched in 2025 for around BRL 1.5 million..

The Alef Model A was unveiled during a press conference at Draper College. With a power reserve of 320 km for movement on land and 190 km of autonomy during flights, the flying car is an eVTOL model capable of vertical takeoff and landing. In addition, it has been designed to be able to maneuver like a normal car. According to Alef Aeronautics, the Model A is a vehicle with one or two seating options that can only accommodate the pilot and one additional passenger.

During the conference, Alef Aeronautics CEO Jim Duchovny revealed that the company is also working on a four-person Alef Model Z sedan. According to the CEO, the sedan should hit the market between 2030 and 2035.

Flying cars will solve traffic problems

The startup isn’t the only company developing flying cars to solve traffic problems. For example, Arsenale AIR4, Renault’s car in partnership with TheArsenale, was sold for 4 million euros. Duchovny believes that flying cars will be the solution to the problem of traffic around the world. “We can solve all the traffic problems in the world for the next 100 years.”

In Dubai, the XPENG X2 made its first public flight in early October. The Chinese company XPENG AEROGHT performed an unmanned flight at Skydive Dubai in front of 150 invited witnesses. Among them were officials from the Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai International Chamber of Commerce, as well as employees of the Chinese consulate in the country.

As we can see, several companies around the world are making headway with eVTOL flying vehicles to bring the flying cars from old sci-fi movies to life. Although the first steps are already being taken, it will be a long time before flying cars become commonplace.
