In hard times for any country’s economy, all kinds of scammers and swindlers are always activated, discovering new opportunities for themselves to warm their hands to one’s gullibility or need – this is happening now. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells about the increasingly popular scheme to deceive motorists who are trying to save on engine oil.

Now many suppliers of auto parts and consumables are leaving our country (or have already left). And as for the latter, judging by unofficial information from the players in the Russian market, the stocks of engine and transmission oils of world brands are actively emptied. And their replenishment practically does not occur. European and American “oil farmers” not only do not burn with the desire to cooperate with Russia, but for the most part they also prevent the supply of their products to our country through bypass schemes for the most part.

In such a situation, many motorists remember the good old way of playing it safe – buying the right brand of oil not in cans, but immediately in a 200-liter barrel. So it turns out to be much cheaper and the chances of encountering a fake are almost zero. However, both arguments were only valid until recently – “thanks” to the efforts of scammers.

The schedule of their “activities” is easy to put to shame. On one of the popular advertising sites, an empty 200-liter barrel is purchased, in which motor oil from a well-known world manufacturer was once stored – for 500-600 rubles. For example, a barrel of the same volume is bought for the so-called spindle oil – for 25,000-30,000 rubles. And then the “spindle” from the second container is poured into the first.

Branded containers with a “spindle” are placed on the same site – on sale at a price of 50,000-60,000 rubles. For example, the advertisement states that it concerns synthetic motor oil. Like one of the last barrels in the warehouse, which is why we’re giving it half price. Real “plastics” of a major international brand in such a volume are now sold for 130,000 – 150,000 rubles. And when a motorist, aware that Russia is about to be left without branded oil for foreign cars, sees an offer to buy a barrel of the same product at a ridiculous price … In general, it is impossible to to resist. Especially since, as they say, she does not ask for it, but has been solving the problem of shortage of branded lubricant for a long time.

But the problem is that, as we remember, instead of real motor oil, the car owner gets a “spindle”. And it has nothing even to do with “semi-synthetic materials”, besides it does not have the additives necessary for the engine. Categorically pouring such a lubricant into the drive unit is impossible – it will fail very quickly and require at least a major overhaul. And worst case scenario, ask for a dump.

In general, as a result of a “successful” purchase of a barrel of “left” oil, the motorist is faced with the need for an extremely expensive car repair, and the crook “charges” about 30,000 rubles for himself. Another confirmation of the general truth – the miser pays twice …
