Changed shoes: why Europeans are returning to “non-environmentally friendly” petrol cars

Vague and sometimes unbelievable news “comes” from Europe: Italians are massively abandoning electric cars in favor of unenvironmentally friendly, outdated and generally blasphemous “gasoline”. “But how is this possible”, you ask, “after all, the greenhouse effect and the melting of glaciers, as has been repeatedly claimed by the same European scientists, is directly related to car exhaust”? So we didn’t understand, but the box just opened. Details – in the material of the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

Politics is politics and the economy needs to be saved. As the European Union tries to “save face” and show unity, its main “locomotives” have moved from stagnation to a stage called “dive” by the pilots. German giants are flocking to ‘warm countries’, fleeing unprecedented gas prices, and the eurozone’s third economy – Italy – is being rebuilt into ‘Stone Age’ mode. Just think, they decided to abandon electric vehicles! The “wild flag” was right: the whole world is in ruins.

The new trend in Europe is the good old ICE. It goes against many environmental doctrines and statements, but there is no escaping the reality: electricity is now expensive. More expensive than petrol and now scarce diesel. Moreover, this “trend” was particularly pronounced in Italy.

The experts at the facile.it portal have calculated that electricity costs have increased by 161% in the past 9 months, so bulletin boards and car dealers are inundated with offers to resell electric trains. They are no longer profitable: recharging batteries costs 15% more than refueling diesel and 10% more expensive than petrol. The masks have fallen, the landscape has fallen: loud words about caring for nature were appropriate as long as they did not ‘climb’ into a personal wallet. And as soon as they asked to pay for the ideology, the audience left the room.

The first sign of this process was the cessation of construction of a huge Tesla factory in Germany, which Elon Musk considered to be the basis for expanding his brand into Europe. From now on, there is nothing and no one to gain and the high initially paid too much for an electric car is not compensated by a reduction in follow-up costs. Unprofitable and therefore no one is interested. But why did it happen?

After Europe abandoned cheap coal-fired thermal power plants, Europe began to cut down on both gas and nuclear power plants — a gamble on solar and wind as renewables. An untenable story to say the least, but whatever you do to annoy your neighbor, a hydrocarbon supplier. Bored.

After canceling long-term gas contracts, they caused a market tsunami that spanned all regions and spheres. Including electric. Even the recognized importer of electricity – France, which has the most powerful nuclear power in Europe – now buys “power”. The demand is high, there are no additional suppliers – the price rises as a result. There is no outside influence, a simple economy, but now there is no place for “green” cars – there would be enough for heating.
