Chinese social networks have become popular among Brazilians, tik tak and Kwai attract more and more users and enjoy undeniable success. Creators develop unique content and many influencers and communicators stand out on the platforms.
And Kwai decided to go one step further and embrace Brazilian soap opera culture by endorsing the genre’s content on the platform.
TeleQuay was launched this Wednesday (13) and is a new format expected to contain content inspired by Brazilian TV dramaturgy. The platform has 1 billion users worldwide, 45 million in Brazil alone, and aims to empower independent content creators with this new format.
The content will be in a vertical format, up to two minutes long and will focus on the development of the story with multiple twists and turns.
To get the desired result, the platform will initially support some productions, reviewing and approving what may go on air.
“We direct in the sense of photography, both the light and the position of the actors, to try to empower this production chain.”, explains Vladimir Vinter, Senior Content Director.
The platform has been working on pilot projects for several months now, such as Dystopia, Scammers, and Talk to Me among other series.
Over the past few months, Kwai has analyzed its database and identified the standards it intends to apply to help future productions based on Brazilian soap operas.
“Soap operas are part of the entertainment culture of Brazilian drama. All we do is think about how to adapt everyday content to a shorter format.Winter said.
Products that are already on the platform have an average of 10 to 20 chapters, but there is no limit on the number of episodes for future content. And, thanks to the dynamics of the platform, the feed always takes you to the next video as soon as the previous one ends, which ultimately makes it difficult to continue the stories told on TeleKwai. Therefore, the platform is already testing a new tool that will allow you to create video sequences.
