Modern combustion engines are economical and environmentally friendly. In order to save nature – as we have been told all these years – it was equipped with a multitude of different devices, which, however, seriously reduced the resource. And here the adage about “it used to be better” is very appropriate: the old and legendary million-plus engines had no “ecology”. Whether or not to cut out all “cleansing” additives is a personal matter for everyone, it is stupid to give advice here. But one “improvement” is still worth talking about.
A long time ago, car manufacturers decided to send crankcase gases back to the engine “for afterburning”. The thin hose was still on the old carburetor and even then many drivers threw it under the hood and disconnected it from the common circuit. Why? Yes, because in the crankcase gases, which became more and more with the death of the engine, it turned out not only unburnt fuel, but also oil dust and emulsion and condensate and everything else. The unit soon became clogged with dirt and demanded cleaning – and on a regular basis. So we found a solution: not environmentally friendly, but cheap, reliable and practical.
However, there is still truth in the words of environmentalists: the purity of the air depends on all of us. Yes, it makes sense to save fuel. Therefore, it is better to use another solution that will allow you to achieve great equality “both the wolves are fed and the sheep are safe.” What is its essence? A special filter flask called an oil trap is attached to the crankcase gas supply hose. The trick is that the fuel vapors are sent to the address and the heavier “fractions” remain in the container, which can then be emptied.
With the theoretical and practical part everything is clear, one important point remains: the prices. There are many recipes on the Internet about “stacking” an oil trap with improvised means, but it is much easier to buy a ready-made product for 235 rubles at a well-known Chinese flea market. For this money, Russian Post supplies not only the bottle itself, but also the full set of hoses, fittings and fasteners necessary for installation.
The result is not only more engine power – especially if you clean the throttle at the same time – but also a reduction in the number of visits to a gas station and independent digging under the hood. In short, the story is worth it – it can and should be applied.
