Despite criticism from competitors at launch, Appendix tracking transparencyresource Apple keep track of your customers – if you want – has been highly acclaimed in recent months. A recent report by the analytics platform Adjust, published by the website 9to5Mac, indicated that 25% of respondents chose to use it. In May 2021, this figure was 16%.

The program is available for iPhone and iPad and allows app creators to track user activity to receive personalized ads similar to internet cookies. The statistic is even higher for gaming, with 30% of ears capable of tracking – rising to 75% in popular games.

ATT arrived from iOS 14.5 last year and with strong criticism from competitors such as facebook. It didn’t look very promising at first, as according to the same survey, only 4% of US users used it in the first month.

One reason that may explain this increase is the freedom Apple gives developers to “convince” their customers to allow themselves to be tracked. Take a free app as an example: it can warn those who use it that personalized ads can help keep it free — and digging in your pocket has always been a strong argument.

Consent rates are on the rise

According to Adjust, users better understand the value of tracking and unique ads. As a result, the level of agreement should remain high and tend to increase if the scenario does not change.

The numbers may represent a good picture for other companies as well. Despite criticism from Apple, Facebook may somehow use this to reclaim the lost space. In 2022, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta lost about $12.8 billion (about R$60 billion) due to ATT.

Other group resources such as Snapchat, Twitter and YouTube have also been affected.

Along with being able to be tracked, Apple is pushing for stronger privacy protections and is fighting to prevent the consolidation of a law that would allow you to download third-party apps outside of the App Store, the official online store.
