Since the first cars with a wooden body, the most common way of fastening one part to another has been the bolt-nut principle. This is how the whole suspension is mounted and under the hood are many such “hardware” nodes. It is convenient, versatile, practical. Although there are drawbacks: over time, one or another pair of bolts can become one, which is not easy to separate and sometimes even impossible.
Corrosion, heating and cooling, “raw” metal and the same reagents sometimes make a “lasting impression” on the connection: the rust layer is sometimes thicker than the metal. Tell me, how to make repairs regarding the separation of these two?
That’s right, you have to spray a penetrating lubricant first, ask everyone known and concerned for moral help, and then try to turn it around without breaking it. Did not work? Of course we’re going to warm up. We take out the good old cauldron, recalling the collapsed empire, put on the nut and plug it in. Once the metal turns red, you can spray with grease or water again for a warning, cool down and start spinning again. And so – to infinity.
Bulgarian? Again “Stalingrad”, welding and a lot of new parts. After all, it is impossible to disassemble the inseparable, they write in clever books. Well, let’s face it, it’s almost impossible. We live in Russia, where the inseparable can very well become collapsible, if the master wants it, and sometimes even viable after reassembly. The right tools would be at hand.
One is simple, like a nail, and reliable, like AK, a “fit” called a “wrench.” Most nuts are not made from red-hot iron, so they must be cut under the right conditions. To do this carefully, without damaging the bolt or the threads on it, you need to perform the operation very accurately, which is not possible with a grinder. But with a key – you can. A comfortable handle with a threaded headboard ring and a powerful bolt that is ground on the end – naturally hardened. We expose, twist, the nut breaks. And above all no disasters.
A decent-quality device costs about 3,000 rubles, and for 5,000 you can buy a whole range of different diameters. For a professional service station, a hydraulic mechanism is better suited to simplify and speed up the process. But this is for frequent use. For a garage and a summer residence, “mechanics” is enough. The tool usually pays for itself after the first use, so a shelf space is well worth it.
