If the car owner does not give a damn about his safety and the safety of the car, he must independently perform several mandatory actions during the tire fitting process. Because truly qualified and conscientious masters of this craft cannot be found with fire during the day.
First of all, even before installing the “re-shod” wheel in place, do not be too lazy and inspect the condition of the surface of the hub and that part of the disk next to it. There should be no dirt, rust particles and the like.
The fact is that when the rim is screwed onto the hub, all this mud doesn’t allow them to come together properly. And this is a possible backlash and the threat of self-loosening lug nuts along the way – with more than obvious consequences. And for the alloy rim itself, “pressing” abrasive particles into the surface is no gift either.
Therefore, after dirt is found on the hub and disc, it must be carefully removed. Either by yourself using a pre-filled metal brush or by forcing a tire mechanic to do it.
And when the wheel is already installed on the studs, but not yet screwed with nuts, you need to take some grease yourself and smear a little on the threads of each of them – where the nuts will be located next.
