The Public Services Internet Service has updated the Gosuslugi.Auto application. Now, in addition to the “electronic STS” of your car, you can create an “electronic driver’s license” there. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells about the digitization of documents.

Gosuslugakh.Avto has the option to get a digital copy of your driver’s license. It can now be presented to the traffic police inspector, either as an “image” on the screen of your smartphone or as a QR code. Until recently, a similar Gosuslug.Auto function was only supported with regard to a registration certificate – STS.

Earlier, the head of the traffic police, Mikhail Chernikov, announced the appearance in Russia of full-fledged “electronic rights” from October this year. It was also reported that the traffic cops had already received clarification “on the spot” about the work with “electronic VU”.

We note, however, that the current version of the Rules of the Road does not say a word about electronic documents. So formally, there are no digital “rights” for the police officer and he is obliged to require the motorist to present a real certificate.

Electronic “entitlements” and STS are expected to be legalized from March 1, 2023, when the new version of the SDA comes into effect.
