Nissan and Renault are discussing the change to the terms of their participation in the alliance. This was announced by the chairman of Renault SA Jean-Dominique Senard. Portal “AutoVzglyad” tells about the situation.

The fact that representatives of Renault and Nissan will hold talks on the future of the alliance on November 15 and 16, Senar announced at the start of this event in Tokyo. In particular, the change in shareholder relations between partners will be discussed. Now Renault owns 43% of Nissan shares, while the Japanese own only 15% of Renault shares, without voting rights.

Recall that last week Renault published its corporate restructuring plan, creating a joint venture with Geely to produce gasoline engines and design hybrid power plants. At the same time, the French are insisting that Nissan invest in the development of electric vehicles.

The negotiations between the Renault and Nissan leadership probably lasted two days due to the fact that the Japanese are not enthusiastic about such a prospect. In addition, according to Reuters, they are pushing to give Geely access to technologies that are intellectually owned by Nissan.
